Quick answer: The Adeptus Custodes are the Emperor’s elite guardians in Warhammer 40,000 lore — individually crafted warriors, not Space Marines, traditionally numbered among the Ten Thousand who watch Terra and the Throne.
Not Space Marines
Custodians are a separate Imperial elite with different gene-forging and culture. Avoid mixing their colour symbolism with chapter heraldry when painting.
Visual signatures
Gold armour and crimson or purple accents are common in studio paint schemes; always check the latest Warhammer Community paint guides for official recipes if you want a studio match.
