How to Magnetise WarSplay™: A Clean, Hole-Free Setup

If you have ever nudged a display and watched a perfectly painted model take a dive, you already know why wargamers magnetise. To fully escape the "foam case burial" and showcase your army with secure stadium seating, your WarSplay™ can be magnetised easily without drilling holes or ruining the premium matte black finish.

Pro Tip: Important Note on Materials

You specifically need a ferrous/rubber material (a surface that magnets stick to). Magnets and steel/ferrous sheets are optional upgrades and are not included with our modular display stands.

What You Will Need

  • Self-adhesive steel/ferrous sheet: To stick to the display tiers.
  • Neodymium magnets: Sized for your specific miniature bases (compatible with standard systems like Warhammer 40,000®).
  • Superglue: To attach the magnets firmly under your bases.
  • Scissors or craft knife & pencil: To trace and cut the hexagon shape.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Prep and Cut

Measure a WarSplay™ hexagon tier to use as a template. Place it on the back of your self-adhesive steel/ferrous sheet, trace around it carefully, and cut the shape out. Tip: Cut slightly inside your traced line so the plate doesn’t overhang the edges of the plinth for a flush, premium fit.

Step 2: Peel and Stick

Ensure the WarSplay™ hexagon is completely clean, dry, and free of dust. Peel the backing off your cut shape, align it carefully, and press the sheet firmly into the plinth. Leave it to bond undisturbed for a short while.

Step 3: Secure and Showcase

Glue a neodymium magnet flat against the underside of your miniature's base. Once the glue is fully cured, snap your models onto the display for a secure, exhibition-grade hold that beats high-cost acrylic alternatives.

Troubleshooting

  • Model doesn't hold strongly enough: You likely bought a magnetic rubber sheet instead of a steel/ferrous sheet, or your base magnet is too weak (we recommend N52 strength).
  • The tape edges are lifting: The plinth surface wasn't cleaned properly before sticking, or the sheet is overhanging the edge and getting caught.
