Quick answer: Use sturdy boxes with dividers or dedicated shelves, keep heavy pieces at the bottom, and avoid stacking delicate spires under books. Indoor climate matters as much as the box. If you are still building up a table, browse our 28mm scatter terrain range.
Heavy vs delicate
Stone-effect ruins and MDF boards can stack with card separators. Thin trees, antennas and laser-cut filigree need their own layer or foam wells. For choosing woodland pieces in the first place, see our guide to 28mm wargaming trees and forest terrain.
Climate
Same rules as miniatures: no loft, garage or damp shed. See where not to store miniatures.

Frequently asked questions
Can terrain go in the same box as miniatures?
Only if dividers stop crushing. Most people separate them.
Is foam good for terrain?
For spiky pieces yes; for flat boards, card separators are enough.
Painted terrain and UV?
Keep off sunny windowsills — paint fades.
Separate heavy boards from delicate scatter. Label boxes by table section. Avoid stacking uncured textured boards — flock and sand transfer easily.
