Measure correctly
Base size is not miniature scale
A “28mm miniature” describes an approximate model scale, not necessarily a 28mm base. Always measure the base itself across its widest outside edge before choosing a display stand, movement tray or storage solution.
Measure both axes
Record the shorter width and the longer length. For example, an oval may measure 32 × 60mm rather than having one diameter.
Verify before trusting
Printer scaling can change physical dimensions. Print at 100% and confirm the 100mm test line with a ruler before placing a base on the guide.

How do I measure a round miniature base?
Measure the diameter across the centre from one outside edge to the opposite outside edge. Include the full bevel. A ruler or digital calliper gives the best result, but the calibrated screen and printable circles are useful for matching an unknown base.
Is a 28mm miniature the same as a 28mm base?
No. “28mm” often refers to an approximate miniature scale or model height convention. The model may be supplied on a 25mm, 28.5mm, 32mm, 40mm or another base. Measure the actual base rather than relying on the miniature’s stated scale.
How accurate is the on-screen base-size checker?
It becomes useful after calibration because browsers and screens do not display CSS millimetres at a guaranteed physical size. Match the bank-card outline to a standard 85.60mm-wide card, then compare the base. For critical fit decisions, confirm with a ruler or printed sheet.
How do I print the base-size checker at actual size?
Use the page’s Print button, choose A4 paper, select “Actual size” or “100%”, and disable “Fit to page” or automatic scaling. After printing, measure the 100mm verification line. If that line is not exactly 100mm, correct the print scale before using the circles.
Does the checker work with oval and square bases?
Yes. Choose Oval or Square, then enter width and length. The screen preview, custom print page and downloadable SVG update to those exact dimensions. Measure both outside axes for an oval base.
