Most Commander deck boxes are built like bricks. SquadPod is built to travel.
Today we're launching something a little different from our miniature display stands: SquadPod Slim by WarSplay, a slim, rugged deck box designed for Magic: The Gathering® Commander (EDH) players. It's the first product in our new SquadPod line of card-carry accessories, and it was built to answer one question we kept asking at game night: why does a 100-card deck need a box the size of a house brick?
What is SquadPod Slim?
SquadPod Slim is an MTG deck box that holds a full 100-card Commander deck plus 10 tokens, single-sleeved, in a hard case that's only 50 mm deep. Instead of stacking 100 cards into one tall tower, it splits your deck into two side-by-side stacks of 50 cards and 5 tokens. That keeps the box short and flat, so it slides into a backpack, tote or messenger bag instead of bulging out of it.
- Capacity: 100 single-sleeved cards + 10 tokens (or approx. 90 double-sleeved cards)
- Commander display window with a rigid toploader included
- Hinged lid with a side click latch
- Size: approx. 168 × 100 × 50 mm
- Five two-tone colourways: Harbour, Bone, Field, Blossom and Frost
- Price: £19.99, precision-manufactured in our UK workshop
Built to guard your deck
Fabric deck bags are light, but they don't stop a deck getting bent at the bottom of a rucksack. Big plastic flip boxes protect well, but they're bulky. SquadPod Slim sits in the middle: a rigid, rugged shell that shields your sleeved cards from knocks and crushing, in a profile slim enough to live in your bag every day. We've written a full comparison in Fabric vs Hard Deck Boxes: Which Is Best for Your MTG Commander Deck?
Your commander, front and centre
Your commander is the face of your deck, so we gave it a window. Slide it into the included rigid toploader and it sits behind the front display window, visible on the table, on the shelf and in your bag. No more opening five identical boxes to find the right deck.
A lid that clicks shut
The lid swings open on a screw-pinned hinge and closes with a positive click from the side latch. It stays shut in transit and opens in one easy movement when it's time to shuffle up.
Not just for Commander
Commander decks need single sleeves to fit all 100 cards plus tokens. Playing a 60-card or 50-card game? SquadPod Slim carries your full deck double-sleeved with room to spare, which makes it a great fit for Pokémon TCG, One Piece Card Game and Gundam Card Game players too. Five colourways, one for every deck
Every SquadPod Slim is two-tone:
- Harbour – navy body, white lid and latch
- Bone – black body, sand lid and latch
- Field – olive body, brown lid and latch
- Blossom – baby pink body, white lid and latch
- Frost – baby blue body, sand lid and latch
Plenty of players colour-code by deck: Field for a green stompy build, Bone for your darkest graveyard deck, Frost for blue control. Pick your squad.
Bag-ready by design
At 50 mm deep, SquadPod Slim fits where chunky boxes don't: laptop sleeves, jacket pockets on big coats, the side pocket of a rucksack. If you carry your deck to work for a lunchtime game, or travel to events by train, it makes a real difference. See our guide to the best slim MTG deck boxes for travel.
