"Holds 100 cards" sounds simple, until you realise it depends entirely on your sleeves. If you've ever forced a lid shut on an overstuffed Magic: The Gathering® deck, this guide is for you.
Why sleeves change everything
An unsleeved MTG card is thin. Put it in a sleeve and it roughly doubles in thickness. Add an inner "perfect fit" sleeve as well (double sleeving) and it gets thicker again. Across 100 cards, those fractions of a millimetre add up to centimetres, which is why the same box can hold very different numbers of cards.
Single sleeving vs double sleeving
- Single sleeved: each card in one standard sleeve (66 × 91 mm for standard-size 63 × 88 mm cards). The most common choice for Commander.
- Double sleeved: a snug inner sleeve plus a standard outer sleeve. Better protection against spills and dust, but thicker and heavier.
Commander decks are 100 cards before you add tokens, so most Commander players single-sleeve to keep the deck shuffleable and portable. Players in 60-card formats, and in other trading card games that use 50 or 60-card decks, are more likely to double-sleeve.
What fits in SquadPod Slim?

SquadPod Slim splits your deck across two side-by-side slots. Each slot holds 50 cards plus 5 tokens, single-sleeved.
| Sleeving | Capacity | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Single sleeved | 100 cards + 10 tokens | A full MTG Commander deck |
| Double sleeved | Approx. 90 cards | 60-card MTG decks, 50 and 60-card TCG decks |
Important: a 100-card Commander deck must be single-sleeved to fit. If you double-sleeve your Commander deck, you'll need a bigger box.
Does it fit other card games?
SquadPod Slim fits standard-size cards (63 × 88 mm) in standard sleeves, so it also works for Pokémon TCG, One Piece Card Game and Gundam Card Game decks. Those 50 and 60-card decks fit double-sleeved with room to spare.
Tips for a snug fit
- Count tokens as cards. Ten tokens is roughly the thickness of ten sleeved cards.
- Matte sleeves are often slightly thicker than gloss.
- Don't force it. If the lid needs pressure to close, remove a few tokens rather than bending cards.
- Keep your commander in the included toploader in the front window, so it isn't taking space in the stacks.
