We make two Commander deck boxes, and they're built for different players. SquadPod Slim is the flat, lightweight box for carrying a deck to game night. The Commander Deck Box with Card Stand is the chunkier, sturdier box that doubles as a shelf display. Here's how they compare.

Which deck box is better for carrying in a bag?
SquadPod Slim. At just 50 mm deep it slides into backpack pockets and laptop sleeves where a chunky cube won't go, because the deck sits in two short stacks instead of one tall tower. Read more in the best slim deck box for travel.
Which deck box looks best on a shelf?
The Commander Deck Box with Card Stand. It stands upright like a small display case with your commander locked to the front, and the included card stand lets you prop up a favourite card beside it. It's the one to choose if your decks live on a shelf between games.
Which one is tougher?
Both are rigid plastic shells, precision-manufactured in our UK workshop. The Card Stand box has the thicker, chunkier build and is designed to pass the shake test, while SquadPod Slim trades bulk for portability and still protects your cards from knocks and crushing. See what the deck box shake test is.
Do both boxes hold a full Commander deck?
Yes. Both hold a 100-card Commander deck in single sleeves, and SquadPod Slim also gives your 10 tokens their own space. If you double-sleeve, check how many cards fit single vs double-sleeved first.
Can I see my commander without opening the box?
Yes, on both. SquadPod Slim shows your commander through a front window in an included toploader, and the Card Stand box clips your commander's toploader to the front. For more ways to keep that card safe, see how to protect and display your commander.
Which one makes the better gift?
SquadPod Slim is the easier gift: it's under £20 and comes in five ready-made colourways. The Card Stand box suits someone who likes to customise, because you pick both colours. More ideas in gifts for teenage card game players and the best gifts for MTG players.
What if I own several Commander decks?
Mix and match. Many players keep their travel decks in SquadPod Slim and their shelf favourites in the Card Stand box, then colour-code by deck. Our deck box colour guide and how to store multiple Commander decks will help.
Our verdict
If the deck leaves the house every week, choose SquadPod Slim. If it mostly lives on a shelf and you want it to look the part, choose the Card Stand box. Still unsure? Work through our deck box buying checklist.
